The Kiwanis Club of Salem was chartered on May 20, 1921 as a member of the Capital District.

The Salem Kiwanis Foundation was created in July, 1993 as a 501-c-3 non-profit organization, and is the fund-raising and philanthropic arm of the Kiwanis Club of Salem.
